Did you document any of the conversation?
I’ve spoken to HR about it, yes. Haven’t spoken to them since the demotion happened earlier this week
I mean did you document any of the conversation at the time of the incident? Any email communication to your leaders? That helps to hold up compared to hearsay
What was the reason given for the demotion?
“Business has to be realigned since I can’t work with her”
They put on paper that you were being demoted because you couldn't work with her?
Did your pay decrease or just your job profile?
Pay too
Were you demoted or transferred
Just leave. No way this gets better.
I had the same thought. I feel like I’m already branded.
Trust your gut.
Time to leave. Never ever go to HR for anything. They are there to protect the company... Not you unfortunately
It means they have nothing on you to fire you, but they try to make you leave. You actually can go to HR and ask for a mutual separation. Say, that you’ve been treated unfairly, but you just want to put this thing behind you and will gladly leave if they pay you 6M severance.
Thank you! That’s amazing advice. I really appreciate it
They probably won’t give you 6M. But if you let them start negotiations they start with 2 weeks and it’d be harder for you to push the price up. Usually companies pay 2 weeks for every year of service, with your situation you might be able to negotiate about a month on top of it.
Find out how common demotions are in your org/company? If this is rare, you have your answer
And also, start applying to new jobs, but stand your ground. HR is scared of shit like this blowing up when the employee is right and the Corp is wrong
Probably, but will be very difficult to prove
