Skyscanner SDE interview experience

Hello all, unfortunately my entire team in MSFT has been laid off. I have 7 yoe and I do not want to live the stress of working under Us visa system anymore. I always wanted to see the life in Europe. I know the TC is low, but I consider this as a great experience if it happens. I am currently located in PNW, so somewhere sunny was my target. I have seen some positions in Barcelona, and one is from Skyscanner. How is the culture there? How do they conduct the interview process? I have seen that they focus on system design a lot. What type of questions do they ask? I have started to prepare for the interviews so it would be a great help. #barcelona #skyscanner

Do you know Spanish? Most Spanish don't speak English or decent English

I am lucky that my wife is from South America :D Do you think this would be a problem only in daily life? It seems like Barcelona is very touristic tho.

You need Spanish or Catalan for some of the bureaucracy, house renting/buying, going to the bank, getting a plumber etc, but if your wife speaks Spanish you don’t need to worry about it. There are many ppl in tech/multinationals who speak better English than Spanish, so you can make friends even before learning Spanish. But eventually, learning it opens a lot of extra doors (for social stuff).

Life in Barcelona is great, if you have a chance to join Skyscanner, which is a great company for engineers, don’t think much and do it - lived there for five years without speaking Catalan/Spanish and it was great.
