So last week I posted about having the worst job and maybe I jinxed it. I was one of the engineers working on Microsoft's dining website where employees order lunch. A lot of people in our org have been laid off. Is the market really bad for someone with 2 years of experience? Do you guys think I'll find something soon if I apply diligently? I am really heartbroken right now. Please drop any advice you have.
Just word it as internal tooling on your resume. Talk about an order processing system. Good luck in your search
AI order processing system *
this ^^^ 😂
You were working on a project that should have never been owned by FTEs in the first place. This is why companies hire Yellow badges. Keep your chin up. If you made it to Microsoft, you can crack it elsewhere too.
Not a good time buddy. Very tough market. Find internally someone at MS. If there are any references it’s somewhat easier to get an interview. Very competitive but don’t want to demotivate you. Make sure you reach out to your connections and see.
Website → https://dining.microsoft.com but it only works for Microsoft employees in the Puget Sound area. No free lunch.
They cancelled lunch 🙊
You guys all got trolled by OP
Yes the market is really bad but I think the worst is over, and the hiring should slowly resume. Not sure if it will ever recover to the way it was a few years ago though. I run a daily mailing list that emails the latest remote engineering roles found that day (nothing outdated or older than 24 hrs)… not sure if that interests you but DM me if you want to join the list
You should have coded a backdoor to allow employees to order food for free! On a serious note, I hope you find something soon!
