As tech gets laid off are we going to see an uptick in people working at tier 3 & 4 companies with average TC? Not talking tier in terms of revenue, in fact these are old established companies doing “cloud migration” Tier 3 and/or 4: T-Mobile, Chase, Bank Of America, USAA, Walmart, Chevron, Exxon, Cisco, IBM, Coca-Cola, Disney, Kroger, Albertsons, Toyota, Ford, Verizon, Target, Capital one, etc you get the idea.
Just curious who is tier-2?
Up for debate. Some would say Microsoft, Amazon. These are companies where you still have to grind leetcode medium and have respectable tech without necessarily being highest TC or max benefits, or even solve 2 leetcode medium and hard in 40 min
Wow Albertsons dropped to tier 3 after being acquired?
Albertsons used to be their own tier 0, now they have to average it out with tier 4-5 Kroger.
Yea I’m jumping ship over to Cap One from a startup for a few years till things get better -- got an Amazon green light same week as hiring freeze lmao
Welcome
Expedia is T3. Why is it not on the list ?
I think tier 5 ones like thoughtworks, dumbworks, sh*tworks, no works will see a lot more growth in terms of people working We have one, right in this post
Capital One, Cisco and Verizon might be considered Tier 2 out of the list because they do pay 300k+ for lot of folks 5+ years exp but there are lot of Tier 3 this is just a subset of those companies.
If you want TC of 300K+ at Capone I don't think you'll see many SWEs with just 5 YOE. Something close to 10+ YOE.
Kind sir, please forward my resume internally to the Verizon teams paying non management tech 300+
Anyone that goes to EM is a moron. That’s a toxic sinking ship that keeps dropping employee benefits.
These tier 3/4 companies might be more sustainable because they don't overspend during bull markets. So I don't know if "more people will work at tier 3/4" or if there will just be fewer people working at tier 1/2 (as evidenced by layoffs at tier 1/2 companies the last few weeks/months)
I got an Interview coming up for BoA. New grad and the HR lady said they were looking to fill the position urgently and increase head count steadily. Mentioned that pay was around $85k new grad so not tooooo bad.
IBM is 100+ new grad, I got 110 two years ago and I’m sure the interview is easier
Can I apply then? I’m at 85 base :((((
I’m OOTL. What companies are classified as Tier 3?
Google, Amazon, etc
Companies where senior engineers make like 140K
