Anyone from there that can tell us about what the culture and work are like? Seems like both companies are hiring a lot. What are the people and culture like? What's the interview process like? I would like to get more info!
Quite a few people jumped ship from Tesla to Rivian.
We’re growing really rapidly right now and getting very close to production, so things are getting a little wild here. If you can handle that, it’s an opportunity of a lifetime. Culture has taken a hit, but our team has tremendous faith in the product and brand positioning.
Rivian has a cult environment, Id stay away
What do you mean by cult environment?
Rivian markets on the culture and vision, but in reality it is slipping very fast. The pay is also not in par with bayarea. Think of it as a traditional Midwest company
Depends where you’re based. Bay Area is competitive
Hey what’s a good option package? I was offered “150 options”..no idea how to put a value to that..
Lucid:. We're growing big, interviews are dependent on the group you are interviewing with. Could be 4 people at 30 mins each or more at 45. Culture really depends on your team. Most groups are awesome internally, but for the most part you'll interact with the whole company. That's the great part about having the company in one spot. You're a sw person with a he problem, go walk upstairs and talk to the he person and figure out the problem. Rivian, deal with someone 3hrs away that might have left already.
What's the Lucid culture like?
Late to the party but lucid is a bunghole thats going nowhere soon. Culture is a mix of seeming Know-it-alls who have stuck around for a long long time and done nothing and mediocre micromanagers wanting kiss asses to smack around
Honest opinion regarding the culture, make of it what you will. It used to be an amazing place to work at. I was actually looking forward to Mondays and sometimes even go work on weekends. Off late, it's just going south. Probably that's a problem with any company as it grows, but this is rather unpleasant. People who have not shipped a single EV in their lives before have assumed bigger titles. This inorganic growth has gone into people's heads. I am beginning to hear phrases like, "I'm your boss, you work for me". These people have realized that they can be super rich if they are in the right place at the right time, so a lot of "us vs. them" politics and failures of other teams are celebrated. New people are brought in all the time and their actual job role differs from what they were promised - at least in the connected vehicle division of San Jose. The wrong set of people are empowered and engineers are thrown under the bus for their gross incompetence. It's by far the most toxic work environment I've been in.
Glad it’s not just me thinking this— we’ve gone through many management changes in the past 4-6 months, but it does appear to be stabilizing (hopefully). I’m assuming that this is all due to the rapid growth and I’m holding out that things will get better. Definitely a rough culture currently, people looking to make political moves will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat— like nothing I’ve ever seen.
So is it becoming a dog eats dog culture?
Dude come to rivian maaaaaannn we’re open arms
Lucid and Rivian - Which company is going public first? Which company has potential to be the next Tesla? Which company is good to go with for better work life balance?
Rivian uses a power day approach, 4-8 interviews in one day. Trying to practice Rivian 101 but culture is slipping fast as we’re growing fast.
What's the Rivian culture?
Lots of newly hired senior positions with the “I say jump you jump” mentality and decisions being made because “someone” said so and not using objective reasoning. I’m posting this one month later, but Rivian 101 is close to being non-existent at this point.
