Edit: Poll is very 50/50 or 60/40, can people voting Faith describe their basis. I want to believe also. How are people feeling about Rivian? Their new cars seem crazy cool, but the lack of infrastructure is a bit scary. If they had the same company strength as tesla (which is still falling btw) I could vibe but they don't. Given a lack of EV demand or original enthusiasm people once had for EVs, I feel like Rivian never had an opportunity to surf the "new concept" wave. I hate to say it, but I see the stock touching $8 in a month unless the CEO be more upfront about company progress to give investors and normal consumers faith. Does anyone know what the history of Tesla was like before making it big? Most people know they popped off, but what was their financial story leading up to that point? things they need to survive imo - marketing that reaches not only the "rugged" or "outdoorsy" type - super charging gotta come faster and they should target california heavily (or wherever highest density of rivian buyers are) - sounds bad but the employees gotta come alive rn, but if my stock dropped that much I would be disheartened to work more (company needs to address this w a reward since its literally doom or survive battle) - more updates from CEO, feel like he is MIA too much from general press - cut costs and focus on super successfully serving some area very well as a POC for investors Basically, Rivian surviving is dependent on ultra hard work and dedication from the lowest to the highest rank at 200%. More akin to a startup going for IPO than an existing company lol. If not, maybe it gets bought buy Amazon or smt to make dedicated delivery trucks 😂.
It's too capital intensive, and the demand is waning. All EV-only companies are going to continue struggling while we shift out of ICE vehicles. Only a few will survive.
Demand is waning because none of them have made a product with mass market appeal. They're all too fucking expensive to take off. Legacy automakers will be able to weather to storm as they invest in the technology and bring prices down, but it feels like the little guys like Rivian will be gone or sold off before then.
Cars are ugly as hell. No thanks.
i like them, but they are very definitive in style so i can understand the stark like / dislike
I’m a huge fan of them, they’re the least nerdy EV manufacturer, I like that they kinda market for ruggedness and have the capability to back it up. The R1T is the best EV truck on the market The company is in its infancy though. I’m reserving an R3 as soon as possible and hopefully they grow by the time it comes out
mmm it is the best for EVs but if I was going out somewhere, I would rather have a gas powered truck with access to easy repairs ya know like if a rivian breaks, the repair times seem a bit crazy rn; and if it loses charge while far away, kind of gg since tesla infrastructure is not available yet?
Agreed. I’m not a big EV guy in general but I like Rivian Im an old school car enthusiast and only own ICE cars and I’ll never go full EV but I’m open to owning one.
R3 ==> 2027 release R2 ==> 2025 possible R1T looks very cool but R1T and R1S are same except they stuffed rear section that's reason R1S looks dull/dumb from rear design Still way overpriced like most high-end EVs
We are lucky if we can even deliver first R2 in 2026.
With fisker about to be dead, only the mighty will survive. I see disaster for vinfast, lucid and polestar. Rivian less so but I don’t see them competing with Tesla
Yes. Lucid had been focusing only on Sedans(Specs are best for $70k car fully loaded 400mil range and 450hp) Probably Gravity is their way to go after SUV market
sorry, what does the "Yes" correlate to in this response im not following, unless you mean rivian will take a pickup/suv market domain and lucid take on a purely sedan one (i assume this is already their intention)
Well I meant in general. Rivian always been SUV centric and Amazon(Bezos) backed to battle Tesla Lucid on other hand high end luxury Sedans with combo of Tech,Range,Power, looks etc. But they realized with burnout and Gravity is their first luxury SUV on way out for 2025
They say they will release a vehicle in 45-50k range two years later. But problem is there are vehicles in this range right now. What is the selling point? Should people delay their purchase for Rivian?
Let’s be honest, they hired leadership from Apple who’ve never delivered a vehicle. They let go 25% of their product development. They have absolute idiots like Jono Sive ruining their internal structure. They’re closing down offices. This company is doomed. RJs friends are trying to prove they’re better than him. Brian Gase is running the company into the ground. I don’t see this place lasting.
That’s sadly true.
bro if rivian employees are calling doom im worried
I'm kinda low on all ev makers. It's like upgrading my graphics card. I could do it today or I could do it in 5 years and get something cheaper while beating everything on the market today. There's no real incentive for everyday folks in buying one.
also, its a bit inaccessible to regular people price wise i imagine most low/(low) middle class opt to camry and such or maybe a model 3. great car but the lack of consumer support after the fact is a major drawback
