If you were an engineer at Robinhood during its IPO: 1. How much did you make from the IPO itself? 2. What was your level? 3. When was your start date? TC $300k #robinhood
I know a bunch of people that joined and still are in HOOD. They all got wiped out during the blackout, holding after hoping for recovery only for it to tank even more. Some of them are still holding!
There are some numbers in this thread. You can do the math. Many people in 2021 got in at $15.5 price https://www.teamblind.com/post/TC500k-25YOE-thank-you-Blind-kSWqUhQ5
A lot of people got in at $15.50. A good chunk that joined in 2021 before the IPO got the IPO price. Everyone got taxed at the $38 ipo price. And were able to sell after the blackout ~$15. Im not sure how withholding worked. I think we only let you withhold 21% for taxes at IPO. So if you got in at $38 and had 0% witholding you basically got $0 if you sold immediately. $15.50 was a lot better but still sucks. Pretty sure C-suite made out like bandits. Then they prepped for 2 new rounds of layoffs while telling employees good enough isn’t good enough. Sharks.
Robinhood let folks withhold 37%. People who did that turned out to be ok. People who didn’t, I’ll let you do the math.
Pre-IPO employees had the ability to sell 15% of their vested stock immediately on IPO, so I’ve heard some were able to sell above IPO price.

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
It depends when they joined. HOOD ipo on July 29th 2021. If consider the 6month blackout. Their stock dropped from 38$ to 15$. Unless they joined very early in HOOD, most of the folks probably sold/holding through a loss
Totally. I’m curious on getting some data points though
We didn’t really have a 6 month blackout. We could sell 15% on day 1, 15% on day 90, and the rest after 6 months.
