Think about back in march how Airbnb was suffering massive layoffs + uncertain future. But look at Airbnb millionaires! The stock had extremely successful IPO. Look at Lyft and Uber(which had $15 per share at some point) So in the midst of all chaos, Robinhood might actually be back.
Listening to Elon’s interview with Vlad, it seems fair to believe that Robinhood was left with no other option after DTCC increased their collateral requirements. I guess that’s the cost of free. Robinhood will still be shitty but I guess it will be the least shittiest among the zero commission brokers.
He said NSCC, I don’t know if there the same but I don’t think that’s DTCC correct?
He should have admitted that upfront. Other brokers did and turned out in a significantly better position. He also directly contradicted himself during his initial interview with Cuomo. This was a liquidity problem. https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2021/01/29/robinhood-ceo-vlad-tenev-gamestop-stock-cpt-vpx.cnn
The day Robinhood go IPO, I’ll short. We’ll see.
haha
And I’ll buy puts (ok, a week later). Let’s make this happen!!
They could increase the margin instead ...
It’s not that margin that you are thinking is the problem. Try reading more and understand the nuance of T+2 clearing.
No, they can't. Even if they require 10x value. They can't use clients money as deposit.
Robinhood is going down the tubes after last weeks fiasco. Class action all the way.
I cant wait to get my check for $10 in 5 years!
Perhaps 3/4 of users will leave before March. They might go bankrupt soon.
They got a 3 billion dollar round of funding secured last week But everyone’s going to shoot them as soon as they ipo so they’ll be screwed
Lmaoooo cmon google you have to be smarter than this. More like 5% at most
Robinhood my ass. More like Robbinghood.
They're robbing you by not letting you turn 10$ to 1000$ out of thin air? What did you do to deserve so much money? I'm not saying hedge funds don't do the same, but how exactly did robinhood rob you?
Google, discard your scarcity mindset. Hedge funds conjured money out of thin air when they sold short shares that did not exist. Do you get it? If they drove GameStop bankrupt it would mean free money.
Who wrote this propaganda post 🤣
The thing is, even after the explanation, the ppls who already started the hatred will be reluctant to change their mind. Human nature
But Robinhood app had peak downloads of a million on Friday, they don’t need the salty people to stay. These events may have alienated a large portion of their current base, but this is also bringing tons of newbies into the market.
Hi Vlad. Didn't know you used to work yahoo

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
I think at this point, it's pretty clear that Robinhoods problems are liquidity issues. If they replace a lot of the leadership, i think they can turn it around for a good ipo. Like how uber fired travis
Their CEO has forever ruined robinhoods image. Robinhood needs to disassociate with him
Agreed, their CEO will need to step down after this. New CEO will need to go on an apology tour similar to Dara. Either way, fuck them to high hell. Moved to ETrade/Morgan Stanley and not looking back.
