Team: The Roku Channel Position: Sr Analyst, Data Science. Base: $150K RSU: $120K/4 Years No 401k Match. No ESPP. No signing bonus. On H1B visa. I have read a lot of extremely bad reviews about Roku culture, especially about the VP named Amit Verma (found this from Blind Reviews), and how the management doesn't give shit about anything or anyone. The culture is hire and fire, there are no refreshers, its impossible to get a raise, and there's no growth or promotion. Are all of these true? If yes, then why people stay at Roku? And does Roku sponsor GC ? Also heard that their insurance is pretty expensive, and that they offer Unlimited PTO but it max outs at 30 days after which its leave without pay. #roku
Every word is true, about Amit not sure, I do not work under him. But I heard some bad rumor. Hire and fire culture
What hire and fire?!
120 stock every year or total 4 year. Year of exp
2.5 YoE. Its $120K over 4 years
Hire and fire culture, stock is already high, not worth risking and getting fired
Yoe ?
2.5
The Roku channel business is growing so you have a good chance of working on good projects. At you level you donโt have to worry about VPs but I would highly recommend clarify all the questions you mentioned above with the hiring manager
No hiring Manager tell you do not join because of all issue. I had same doubt with hiring manager, he told me every thing is not true, bu now I feel I made mistakes, except stock nothing is good here. If u r in h1b,u r screwed big time , you can not change job quickly and you are stuck. I had 1-1 few times with my manager , he cried every time saying he did not get hike from last 4 yrs
"If u r in h1b,u r screwed big time , you can not change job quickly and you are stuck." why? Roku fire a lot?
You will work a lot but learn a lot as well.

Thank you for the info. Can I dm you ?
I have not experienced a hire and fire culture. Personally really enjoy working at Roku and donโt imagine myself leaving any time soon.
@OP talk to some people at Roku if you have common connections and get the real picture of working environment. Based on reviews and some comments by Roku's employees themselves, it looks like a horrible place to work for people on H1b. Current circumstances in this country for people on visa are not looking good despite of Biden administration. Don't move from a stable company to a notoriously badly reviewed company for salary upgrade while you are on H1b visa. Blind reviews are quite scary. I would personally stay away from such company despite of better salary prospects. Note : All arguments made by everyone don't make any sense if you are a Roku fanboy. If you believe in the company and their mission then go for it. You will somehow survive despite of bad work environment. If you are not a fanboy, keep looking for a better opportunity with a reputed company. You will have a lot of peace.
Thanks :) and Happy New Year ๐
Life lesson: do not fan of any company, no company care for employees they care for investors, So if companies let you go , no one can help you , so decide carefully,
These reviews seem mostly like people who were let go and are being bitter about it. I donโt know very many people that were let go. I know some people have complained about comp philosophy but I donโt have any complaints. I get paid more than fang and my work life balance is pretty decent. Thereโs also one specific policy that is one of the most unique (and really good for employee) policy Iโve ever seen. Most people in my org seem pretty happy too. Your mileage may vary.
No company make policy for employees, r u kidding. R u in company brand team
