What are your thoughts on product management roles at Roku in the U.S.? In terms of work life balance, progression prospects, long term compensation potential, org culture, etc. Assume starting salary is the same as Amazon at around 250-350.
Roku is an engineering lead culture Product isn’t as well structured or valued as some other companies There are some great PMs But a lot of really good ones were let go The consumer product org is a mess Device / OS is slightly better
Thanks for the insight. What’s about Ads org?
Small, underfunded, not as much of a focus as it should be
is this about the listing for PM for "Roku Ads Manager" in NYC or Santa Monica? I think that's the self-service portal for display ads and will be a solid job, not endangered to disappear
How would you know? Are you the hiring manager?
i know display ads existed for 10+ years on Roku home screen and reliable workhorse, always in demand by steaming apps, since bring new installs/viewers. why are you so salty, HeY15 - did you get laid off in 2023? My condolences if so, it was stupid of Roku to hire lots of people and then laid them off in a year or two - i only imagine has learned a lesson from that
How was the PM interview process at Roku? Currently interviewing for an ads PM role

Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
They’re the first to get laid off.
Are layoffs done now? Seeing PM job openings at Roku
if there's an open position, that department is not in layoff mode. The squeeze would be on those that can be replaced with workers in IN/UK/UA
