Got 200 miles on my current shoes - some cheaper Adidas. They’re ok but I’m wondering if I should buy something nicer, because sometimes I feel like my feet and lower legs are taking a beating. Are the foot scans and stuff they do at running stores gimmicky or the real deal?
Walk on concrete with wet feet. That will tell you if you have high, medium or low arch. Look inside of your shoes if the insides or outsides are worn more than normal. That will tell you how your foot rolls when running. Then you can pick a shoe that suits you. It’s totally worth it. Or save time and buy it at a speciality store for the first time and then online later
Go to a running store. You don’t need to do a scan but have someone watch you walk and run and they’ll recommend based on their assessment.
Get good sole support shoes, I personally like ASICS GT-2000
take care of your feet. I didn’t and now have plantar fasciitis and Morton’s neuromas. I use orthofeet now
Running on concrete is brutal. I wish I had some dirt trails I could run instead of sidewalk
