I'm thinking to move to rural BC from Europe. Ideally 1-3 hours of driving from Vancouver and with cheap housing to buy. Looking for better outdoor activities, ecology and english speaking environment than I currently have nearby. Any thoughts or suggestions? I can work remotely from any location, TC $150k+
Why not rural Oregon or California or Spain/Portugal?
I don't have US pr / visa and don't wan't waste 2-5 years to get a GC. I am also considering Spain as an option. I would prefer to stay in a colder climate.
If you are European, you will get a Green card in 2 years max. But Canada has free health care and people are less conservative.
Where in Europe are you?
Do you have a Canadian visa?
I have enough points for EE and PR
Look into Kelowna.
Thx
This id about as rural as it gets. People know Kelowna as "that place they stopped to look for washroom on their road trips".
Chilliwack, Pennington, Osooyos, Kelowna, Kamloops. Lots of options.
There’s no cheap housing in bc anywhere I guess
Kelowna is cheap-er and it’s in a nice area. Vancouver island is beautiful. Victoria is expensive, but other places are cheap-er, like Nanaimo (Extra benefit: Nanaimo bars 🤤)
I was thinking about Nanaimo's protein / granola bars first. Lol
Not that kind of bar :) https://images.app.goo.gl/nrm2qjVaQd27xtNC6
Whistler, if you can afford
Check out Squamish and Pemberton - close to Vancouver, closer to world class mountains.
Victoria is great.
and expensive
