Eastlake High or Mercer Island High?
We will start our house hunting soon and high school is a big factor in our decision making. Shortlisted Sammamish and Mercer Island. We will go with the area where the high school is better than the other. Between Eastlake High and Mercer Island High, which one would be our better bet? MI has old expensive homes but we are ok as long as education is good. Why would one pick Eastlake High over Mercer Island high or vice versa? Please pour in your suggestions
I went to Eastlake High! Mercer Island generally has a higher budget and is able to use that towards better resources, better teachers, etc. Having said that, Lake Washington School District is consistently ranked high and Eastlake also has similar academic standards. You're not going to go wrong with either option. I remember Eastlake students (who already come from higher income families) used to think of Mercer Island students as the "rich kids". Another thing to consider is that Mercer Island is less diverse than Eastlake. Mercer Island is 85% white and Sammamish is 62% white.
