got an offer from RTX. 100% remote. Senior Assoc Software Dev Current TC: 76k Offer TC: 100k No sign-on Is this a good offer? Can I negotiate up to 120 and/or ask for a sign-on?
OP, congrats. Are you coming in at a P4 or P5?
I’m not sure. How do I find out?
You can ask the hiring manager. You'd rather come in at P4 than P5. This will put you up against lower level people during review time and allows you to get a pay bump when going P4 -> P5 eventually
I think that’s how they level. Assoc -> Senior assoc -> staff
In my experience raytheon/utc does not negotiate much. What is your YOE? This the only thing they seems to care about is YOE and degree level
I have 3 yoe and BS in CS
Looks like a normal offer I'd be surprised if they move much but you can try for a sign on
Pretty standard offer. But I'm used to seeing signing even with Raytheon.
Congrats on the offer OP. Nice to see the company really embracing this remote stuff too.
You can usually negotiate a sign on of 10-15k. No harm in asking the recruiter about it.
Current employee of PW - this place has low pay, bloated bureaucracy and poor morale. Do not join.
Bloated bureaucracy and poor morale - yes, but pay is competitive when compared to other A&D companies. I thought PW was better than Collins. Doesn’t Collins have additional layers and bureaucracy compared to PW? I’m tired of all these legacy businesses working in their bubbles, doesn’t feel like we are part of a single company at Collins.
My experience is that the entire defense sector is slow and bloated
Get a counter from your current employer and use that as leverage to negotiate a better package from RTX
That’s a P2 job. I’m in quality Eng so idk about software pay but in general that’s not bad. You won’t get rich working here unless you can move up but at least in my SBU you have to sell your soul. There’s so many sites so it can range a lot. I’ve heard good stuff at Rockford. But for ex, riverside cali is old school. ct is apparently old school as well. I’m lucky I left and came back bc they didn’t value me and they backfilled me with 2 sr mangers, and a P4 and 2 p3s… they could of just payed me what I was worth… but politics. So now they had to double what I used to be paid with them and got a 10k bonus. Useful info is they do not really negotiate esp at a P2, you’re nobody at that level. At the M comp structure you still don’t have too much power until your a M5 (about 10-15yoe). Also I believe you MAX at 10% of salary for sign on bonus. I had to get two overrides. Remember, by doing that now I set myself up that I have to preform. I’m paid more than anyone else on my team besides my manager and only under him by like 15k. I don’t mind that but you should be wary of that. It’s not like just ask for more and then log out early. They will expect more from you.
