How does it feel to work in SAP Labs India? Inputs regarding work culture, WLB, growth potential, yearly hike rates, variable pay rates would be greatly appreciated. Offer Details YOE 8 TC 24L(10% variable) #offer #tech #sap
If you are a full stack developer then the salaries are much higher in FAANG than in SAP labs. Keep this offer, but try at FAANG too. If nothing works out, then take the SAP offer.
I have verbal confirmations from Tesco and UiPath with 30L+ offers. I have been hearing really bad reviews of UiPath Bangalore. So a bit skeptical. Don't know about Tesco though.
Work might be team dependant. I worked with a solid sr. SDE at Amazon who was hired from SAP Labs and he had been there for 5-6 years.
Does it become too difficult to switch to FAANG if I join SAP now?
No
SAP labs Bangalore was my previous company. WLB and work culture are exceptionally good. If you don't get a good team you may end up working on obsolete technologies. Yearly hikes will depend on teams but expect a single digit hike in general. Yearly bonus would be close to 100%.
Thanks for your input. If you have recently left SAP, any idea on the Central Services team of SAP Cloud for Customer?
You can dm me for information.
Try to negotiate a bit more if possible 🙂
Work Culture: Good WLB: Really good. You need to work from 9 - 5 only. No more expectations. Growth potential: Depends upon your performance (and politics in your team) Yearly hike rates: ~10 - 12% Variable pay rates: You’ll get all the variable money. Overall Experience: SAP has its own tools and technologies which are not really good. For UI: SAP has UI5 and Fiori (No React/Angular) For application development: SAP CAP framework For Database: SAP Hana database For Cloud: SAP Cloud Platform (Cloud foundry) You'll be working on SAP specific tech stack which is badly designed and doesn't have much market value. Only the companies who are customers of SAP use all these technologies. CTC wise, you are getting good. 24L at T2.3. I hope, there's no hidden component in it. They used to add 5lakhs for higher education policy which isn't really useful. My suggestion: If wlb is your priority, join SAP. If learning new technology interests you, don't join. If you can share rough breakup of CTC, people can guide you even better.
Thank you for your detailed reply. 24L consists of only 10% variable pay, nothing else.
So, things are simplified now. Money wise, offer is really good. Just see: 1. If you want good work life balance, join SAP. 2. If you want to work on latest technologies like React, AWS etc and don't want to get bound to SAP specific tech stack, don't join. In case, you are confused, I would advice to join SAP.

Why is it so G*damn difficult to move money out of India
Work culture and WLB both are awesome, too good. Growth and yearly hikes are bad. But if you're in a right team, growth is good. Variable pay rate is pretty much good, sometimes it might even go to 120%, it'll be definitely 90% most of the times. What's your current TC? And what's the role?
My current TC is 18L. It's Full Stack Developer for Cloud Experience team. So basically they give single digit hikes right?
Yes. If you don't have any other offers from big companies, then go for it.
