How hard is it to get promoted to L6? If there is no hope to get that promotion in your current team, is it possible to get it by internal transferring to a team that values your skills more?

Your either underpaid or not performing efficiently. Probably both. My guess is you need to be more active in politicking and a more aggressive in letting it be known how awesome you are and how essential the work you do is. It's ok to toot your own horn, but get others to toot it for you.
