I get it, but either you want to manage (help others solve problems) or solve them. If you choose one without knowing what you want or what will keep you happy you would regret it, hence yes you are not messi but you are xyz and it's your life and decision, so just think and then only take your decision. Just an advice..
There are time of the year where SDMs get crushed. The way I see it is that SDMs stress level will be ups and downs while SDE3 will be lower in general but more steadily.

Cull the herd from time to time to ensure you maintain your clout. Seen way too many people do it
Easily SDM. An SDE3 is basically an SDE2 who does more design docs and works on more impactful projects. SDM role on the other hand is very stressful with lots of politics and accountability. This is from an Amazon perspective.
New SDE3? Wait till youβre working on projects that cut across orgs and need to influence and align priorities.
This is true. If you are close to l7 you just have influence no control lolz. Itβs stressful but not sure since not been an sdm here
