#snap #snapchatoffer #snapchat Recently engaged with SNAP for Sr Manager, SW Engineering role. After all the due-diligence on both sides(healthy and lengthy recruitment process), received an offer as well for the position. However, recently got an update from recruiter that due to less than expected HC funding from Finance for 2022, the role has been dissolved and SNAP team has taken the offer back. Q to SNAP leaders and fellow teamblind community: (a) Is this Normal at SNAP (results in a negative candidate experience though)?. (b) If a particular team is not-funded sufficiently, are there attempts made to try and match with other teams having openings for same level? Like team-matching process at Amazon, Meta, Google etc. instead of losing an INCLINED hire given the general recruitment process takes lot of time and energy from both parties. My own takeaway: It's good for me to know about these uncertainties early on, rather than getting to know about them later on(say after joining). That being said, I'm back in market to look-out for suitable role commensurate with my leadership prowess. Not in hurry to leave Amazon, but open to consider good opportunities as I come across. I wish SNAP team and SNAP leaders all the best and suggest to improve their hiring processes to avoid such recurrences to anyone else (if they're listening :)). TC Offered @ SNAP: $900K (annual), California. YOE: 15+ Current TC: $550K, Seattle (Edited: After seeing few comments, I've removed levels fyi reference. Blind-Taxing myself now. But, my philosophy is that current TC of recent-joinees coming in the company matters more than that of someone who is already there for long time. Hence shared info on snap (recent), but not on my current(outdated). That's an outdated info (and perhaps a motivating reason to change). Old data is as good as wrong baseline.).

What a moron posting link for current tc, this proves culture of managers from Amazon
Snap's financials are embarassing, no wonder they're having money trouble. If they're not in chapter 11 by the end of 2022 I'll be surprised.
You can’t just point folks to levels.fyi and expect people to engage. Pay the blind tax.
TC or GTFO
I thought I heard a similar story of Snap doing this on Blind but it was posted a few years back
OP did you sign the offer?
Yes.
Weird! Sorry to hear that. How long after the signing did you hear from recruiter?
see, blind? this is perfectly fine to say to a candidate gtfo next time when you will think about reneging already signed offer, just do it, without any hesitation and second thoughts companies don’t care about you and will dump you easily
Except Meta, we love our employees
OP - which org or team at SNAP?
Core infrastructure (content ranking). In Nima’s org. Org seemed to have had great expansion plans when the engagement started. Overall the process was positive to me until the absolute last min surprise.

Update: Trans Coworker Stealing Breast Milk
I doubt your leadership prowess when you try to not post your Tc and just link a website and have folks labor . GTFO.
Updated. Waise kuch accha sa naam soch lo no-name-vaa :). Don’t worry, I won’t be coming to Apple :)
Thank you. Naam mien kya rakha hai. Anyway I was just pointing out that leader should be straightforward and clear in their articulation. Also since you are on your way out of Amazon, what’s your takeaway? Is it a good place for folks to prosper or it’s just a rut where there’s a constant pip pressure?
