I recently got an offer from Achronix semiconductor. How is Achronix as a company ? They are offering me 160k for senior verification role and 40k pre IPO stocks. Need some information about the company and work culture. Is it advisable to switch to a start up company now ? Thanks in Advance #hardware #engineer Current TC: 215k YOE: 4

OP I'm a hardware engineer. The semi industry is hot right now, even as a startup you should be relatively insulated from the kind of layoffs that has been affecting the rest of the tech industry especially with SWE. As for 160k that's OK for senior validation engineering role, it's not significantly above average but depending on where you are it could be a decent base salary if you live in MCOL area like the PNW or Midwest.
I’m in HCOL, Northern cal actually :/
You need to understand the difference between a start up and a privately held sustainable business, it's significant. Questions to ask: How long has the company been around? How much capitol was raised, and when was the last financing round? Does the company have revenue, if so what's the topline? Is the company profitable? How much money in the bank? Any debt? As for WLB, the company has a pretty good culture where you're expected to perform, but it's not a sweat shop.
Thanks
Why are you considering moving to a startup that’s offering you lower TC?
Exactly
My current work life balance is a joke, I have several meetings from 9am to 11pm on a regular basis
