Especially when it involves relocation? Brief context: I was recently laid off due to a bank acquisition and while searching I had asked some of my former coworkers working at one of Mortgage GSEs in the DC area if they had any openings. They didn't respond back to me then, and I recently accepted (and started) a job with a big 4 bank in the West coast. I am only 3 weeks into the role but from what I can tell the coworkers are friendly and helpful. I am a little upset that I lost the recognition and title I had in my previous company though they did match my salary. Just last week however, one of my former DC coworkers approached me for a role in their team. It's a lateral move from where I am now hired at a big 4 bank and eventually requires relocation to the DC area. The only other benefit I can think of moving to the role in DC is that the work would be familiar to me (as I was there before) and I could perhaps hope to have a shorter learning curve and a quicker promotion. But like always, no one is making guarantees that is certain to happen and I would end of day, take my chances.
