Hi all, been considering a jump to Sofi and was hoping to learn about the culture over there. Can some Sofi friends chime in please? - pip culture? - work life balance. - benefits - how many review cycles in a year? - is it easy to meet the perf bar? - how is the collaboration between design, PM, and Eng? - top down or bottom up culture? Preface: I joined the company this year as a front end dev. New grad level PIP culture - none that I know of. I also don't know how poor performers are handled. But as usual, if you can be a dependable eng, you shouldn't need to worry about this WLB - For me it's good. Many of us don't work over 7-8 hours a day. Ofc there are some workaholics and you will see some coworkers online outside normal hours. But for me personally I do a solid ~7-8 hrs a day (and during work hours I take lots of breaks and I also watch twitch and play on my phone a lot) Benefits - all the standard stuff (insurance, unlimited PTO). I noticed people tend to take week off at a time (e.g. whole week off as opposed to a few days sprinkled here and there). Offices don't have regular catered lunch, and no 401k match. Although one cool benefit is if you're based of out an office (i.e. not full time remote), you get $12 a day deposited into a special debit card (which you can then transfer to your bank) Review cycles - not really sure, but I think promos only happen in jan-feb Meeting perf bar - I'd say yes its easy to meet, although most of my team and people I see here are good performers. But as always if you are good performer you shouldn't need to worry about this Collaboration b/w design, PM eng - as FE dev for me it's mostly working with figma from designs, and tbh not that much interaction with PMs unless there are specific questions I need to get answered. But one thing Assaf (our CPO, although new CTO is taking charge of eng design product) said is he wants things to be eng driven, and in my experience i've found this to be true. For example if I notice something in a figma that is lower priority, I can tell design/product that we won't add that UI component for the time being and stick it in a backlog without any pushback Top down vs bottom up - hmm not really sure, probably more top down. It's mostly business leads identify what products/features we need, and PMs will drive efforts. Overall personally I like it here a lot, im only new grad level (<3 yoe) but i can take ownership of projects and actually build stuff members use (as opposed to working on some obscure team building internal tools). But tbh i don't recommend it here for everyone, eng culture is dead, and it's not really rest and vest since there is always work to do.
