Finally I give up, going back to India.
Everything we have is digital. On our phone, and backed by cloud which won’t work in the future or just won’t work for old clients. People just won’t be able to experience what we have today. People used to have so many physical items back in the day. Vinyls, cassette tapes, VCRs, floppies, paper tickets, photos, you name it. The best we can do is put a pre-loaded smartphone in and hope the app works 50 years from now. Assuming the SSD didn’t crap out.
You just listed a bunch of stuff from other generations that’s going to decay at the same rate or worse.
a physical player can easily be engineered to play a vinyl record. How hard would it be to build a new grammaphone with technology a hundred years from now? and they can be easily sealed from corrosion and physical decay. The problem with cloud based digital media is that you can't actually access the physical media where the data is stored to even build a device to read and experience it.
This. The problem is tech is not all enclosed and tech moves fast, faster than the physical decay of device.
Phone clip/holders inside cars, selfie sticks, clunky dongles, usb sticks, vehicles that don’t drive themselves, children’s toys that play stupid jungles on repeat, and all the physical stuff that didn’t change as much. I think you underestimate how interesting everything will look from the perspective of even a 2040 near future.
We’ll put in copies of DDIA, CTCI, and a promo code for leetcode premium and the future generations will have all they need
They’ll be like, “why didn’t these idiots just use Bard?”
A stack of a thousand AOL discs and game magazine demo CDs
not to be mean but u should try getting a hobby if your whole life would only leave behind your phone/computer..
Most of everyone’s sentimental lives are in their phone, computer.
depressing truth. better start printing out webpages, and printing flipbook versions of popular GIFs and tiktoks
