Google PMG Interviews

Interview process: Talent source reaches out via LinkedIn fall 2020, I ignored because I just took a position previous year and was feeling fulfilled. COVID exodus came and I was thinking about a change, reached out to sourcer January 2021 and started the process. Phone screen: Easy “tell me about a time” questions, was actually a fun conversation Sourcer reaches out and tells me I moved on and passes me to a recruiter. Call with recruiter: because your looking in a specific area it could take up to a year to find a matching team, but to get to that point you have to do a virtual interview loop with 4 interviews. I said fuck that and didn’t reach out to get started on the loop. A few months pass by and the recruiter reaches out that the offices I wanted are interested in seeing how I interviewed…. After some thought I decide to go ahead with the interviews WHY THE PMG INTERVIEW IS BS: -I killed all 4 (maybe not gca, but felt pretty damn good) - I was added by one interviewer on LinkedIn after interview - I got many head nods and “great response” -the questions feel like if you read enough, you can answer them without any experience. Not nearly as hard as coding interviews (former engineer, the interview I did years ago w google I knew I bombed and needed much more practice) However it’s going on 3 weeks and the recruiter who was emailing me a bunch before interviews hasn’t said more than “waiting on full feedback”. The process takes too long Going to accept Facebook offer End of rant. #google

WTF is PMG? Program Manager? And you sound like an arrogant tool. When I interview folks I always send positive physical signals like head nods to let them know I'm still listening. Who on earth would shake their head at a candidate for a bad answer? Honestly you sound like someone that thinks they are hot shit and can read all sorts of situations, but can't. They probably really are just waiting on full feedback because one of the interviewers is out for whatever reason and they can't push it through. Or your interview was just mediocre and they are keeping you warm. In any case, congrats on FB offer and have fun there.

Okay 😂😂😂 I’ll ignore the slights. PGM is actually what it’s called, I misspoke- project manager at google.

Google gjgocp Sep 27, 2021

It’s called program manager, not project manager. I would hate to work with you, go to Facebook please!

Not sure why you guys from google are so upset, I just don’t like the interview process at your company. Take a chill pill, I don’t know you and you don’t know me. Your boldness on an anonymous app tells me you’re probably not my type of co worker either though so carry on 🙃

First of all you are not doing favour giving interview as there are many people out there . Interview process takes time and many people go through all process. You are not that unique without whom company will not run business :-)

Obviously :)

In OP’s defense, Google is notoriously slow in getting back to interviewees after the final round. I just waited over 3 weeks to find out. It turns candidates off and several people go with a different company because of it. So it is something that Google should be aware of.

All I was trying to say before people got butt hurt. Just another perspective. TY

I mean, yes, of course, and I'm pretty sure Google knows about this. It's been a long term pain point and not something new. No idea what they have planned to fix this, if anything. This is why people stagger their interviews so that they try to get their offers in at the same time. Assuming one actually gets an offer. The only thing I got from OP was that they felt entitled to an offer (they supposedly killed it because they read and interviewers were nodding their head), and the offer didn't come in fast enough so we "lost out." Instead of trying to improve others impressions, we are mocked and laughed at by OP because whatever we say, we are "wrong."
