SVP @ Citi Bank

What’s exactly a SVP at Citi Bank? Is it considered a senior role and how difficult is advance from that role onwards? I’m considering a Cybersecurity SVP role in Singapore. Any salary insights? TC: $200K

I thought a Principal was supposed to be an IC role 😯 , ball park how many people?

I know SVPs with no direct reports and others who may have 20 people reporting to them. Too many variables across the bank to say there is a standard. Advancing to director is significantly more difficult and after the reorganization I gather the bank will not hand out as many director titles.

Are more reorgs coming?

Yes. Source: I'm at Citi now

Think about it this way. Will be 4-5 svps reporting to one director. Role and team specific is any upward mobility. 3% inflation adj a year on base

SVP is middle management, not a senior role. Director or MD are senior roles.

How’s the environment at Citi? Most banks have a toxic environment.

SVP is a mid tier senior level position, but it’s under director and managing director. You can be a c14 or c15 SVP - c15 SVP is one step away from a director. Salary highly depends on location. So in NYC, let’s say, you may make like 200k base salary. And bonuses are a LOT better at the SVP level

I can see that JPMorgan doesn't have SVP. Can VP (Lead) at JPMorgan be equivalent to a SVP at Citi?

I was a JPM VP and recently accepted an offer from Citi for a non IB SVP position.
