Just a thought from my mind. If we can WFH as a software engineer, why companies need to pay three times of salaries compared to overseas employees and to do the same work? The only advantage of US workers is the time zone that you can communicate with your colleagues instantly. I don’t see any reason why company needs to hire so many spoiled brat SWE engineers in the U.S. who require WFH or beaches or resort. But instead, talented engineers in India or China can work overtime and go to office everyday and no complaints. I think it’s a critical time for Industry to shift. No one know what it will be. But I would estimate it will not be a good thing for all of the workers in the U.S.
ok
WFH wouldn’t work everyone isn’t WFH. Folks working in US for high $$ they are safe till then
“Why do we need to hire people in New York when we can hire people in Cincinnati for 1/3 the money” Do you know why companies don’t do this? Because all the good people live in New York
Blame wfh? Lmao
You sound like a huge nerd
You came up with this now? Amazing vision.
This question has multiple dimensions. First, consider how globalization is altering the world order. Take, for example, China’s plans regarding Taiwan. It’s crucial to ask why they’re pursuing this and who stands to benefit most, and for what reasons? Secondly, there’s the cultural aspect. Collaboration in the office can work wonders when leveraged effectively. It’s not just about working together; it’s about using collaboration as a strategic too
SWE is a dying job. If all those advances in AI don’t scare you shitless then I don’t know what to tell you
I’d like to see AI do anything intelligent with my company’s backend systems. It’ll compute itself to death trying
This is already happening, yet the majority of people in this field and currently studying CS are in lala land , I guess the unlimited swe job propaganda really worked huh
