Apple ICT5: 220/640/50 -> $463k TC (includes 15% bonus) (IS&T) (Seattle) (final) Netflix: $480k TC (remote) (first offer) Square L7: 200/1M/20 -> $470k TC (Cash App) (remote) (final) Current: L6 $320k 9 YOE Seattle If not Netflix, what would Netflix need to win?
Why Sqaure L7 pays so little?
Remote in Tier 2 city
Hardly seems worth the responsibility burden of L7 for that money.
Isn't IS&T hot garbage at Apple? I've heard it is avoid at all costs.
Oh Walmart.. *SMH*
IS&S is icloud , FaceTime, messages etc. IS&T is internal apps. So now you can guess which one is better and which is shitty.
Curious why Square over Netflix? Would it change anyone's mind if I said there's low attrition and good WLB on the Netflix team? How much more comp from Netflix would it take to put it over Square?
From your comments it sounds like you’re more excited about Netflix. I like to toss a coin, let’s say heads is Netflix and tails is Square. While the coin is in the air, ask yourself which side you hope the coin lands on. Then that drills down to what you actually want (regardless of the actual outcome of the coin toss)
There is no such team at Netflix.
Did Netflix adjust the salary based on your location?
They all did
Oh ok, thanks! Did Netflix state what % they adjusted your offer? I’m in the interview process with them and am not in a particularly expensive city (in a suburb of a tier 2 city). I also heard that the decision to adjust the salary is team based, do you know if that’s true?
square. avoid is&t even if rest and vest. remote + that comp + without the stress and expectations of netflix sounds ideal.
Square. I’ve interviewed there and seemed like a great place to work. I was just in lower tier city than you OP and the comp wasn’t good enough otherwise I would have picked Square hands down over my other offers.
@op- what did you end up picking? With Square's refreshers your comp might be much more at Square than Netflix in the next couple of years.
Netflix. I also think Square had the best offer in terms of compensation especially because I would prefer RSUs over options. Ultimately the Netflix team's product was more in line with what I wanted to do and that was the primary driver in my decision. Secondarily the responsibilities of a L7 are not what I'm looking for at this moment in my career.
Congrats! What was your final offer at Netflix?
From the tone of your question, it looks like you had made up your mind to accept Netflix and wanted confirmation from blind.
Needing confirmation? No. I was leaning N but I was hoping to see if there were any compelling reasons for the other companies. Also, how much people thought N would need to increase their offer for it to be the top choice.
“If not Netflix, what would Netflix need to win?” —> These are your words and its clearly signaling that you want people to say Netflix. I don’t want to debate, I just said what I saw. Netflix’s culture ain’t for everyone but hey you are coming from Amazon 🤷
Congratulations!!! Welcome aboard!
Thanks!!
Congratulations! You are a rockstar..
Thank you kind stranger but it's mostly just hard work and luck.
Indeed congratulations! Please explain hard work part. Community could benefit with your pointers.
