SWEs who work at Netflix, what do you do with that much cash every month?

I am expecting an offer from Netflix. With offers from others in FAANG, I would let the RSUs intact but will need to be smart with all that cash if I decide to join Netflix. Do you invest all/large portion of that back into stocks? Blind tax: Currently L6 at AWS, 12 YOE, $485K #engineering #software #swe

The smartest thing is to work remote from other states to save State tax on paycheck.

Netflix kXaw17 Jan 20, 2022

Yes but there is a salary adjustment that needs to be considered.

Silicon Valley Bank exAA12 Jan 20, 2022

Yea small reduction in base pay! Lower cost of living will offset that. As long as RSU are same I am not worried

Buy Netflix stocks worth whatever RSUs you think you would hv got, that would be same as what you want. Not saying that would be the right thing to do.

I save…a lot. I personally take advantage of all pre-tax offerings (401k, HSA, etc). I also contribute to our stock option plan (about 100k a year right now). Post tax a lot goes towards things like mega Roth, 529 and brokerage accounts. I’m also saving to purchase a new primary residence and another rental unit out of state.
