Salary comp bt Amzn, Goog, Msft, Fb

Saw this article comparing top tech company salaries: https://blog.step.com/2016/04/08/an-open-source-project-for-tech-salaries/ Does this look right to you? The number seems about right for Microsoft, btw. This is not accounting Seattle/cali cost difference

This has been shared before. It's also not accurate for MS. The average, per HR, for salary is higher for level 63, much less 64. Bonus figures also fall short in my experience, where you get about 30%, or > $45K, annually. This still means we're behind the others, but not quite as much as depicted.

To clarify, you get 30% bonus (cash and stock) for being average 63 or 64.

Microsoft DFtM25 Oct 22, 2016

30% is for top performance. 15 for averagr

Amazon Tuyiwe Oct 22, 2016

SDE 3 is wrong more like 250-300

Amazon chopsui Oct 22, 2016

Yes, agreed. The band is much higher wider

Amazon jHhF04 Oct 22, 2016

Actually, it's 250k~350k in Seattle

Microsoft Var data OP Oct 22, 2016

I was told that amazon sde 3 is more like l64 at Microsoft. Amazon sde 3 generally had 8+ years experience and shipped multiple projects as tech lead. Is this true?

Amazon pip Oct 23, 2016

In my experience, yes

Microsoft endframe Oct 23, 2016

And yet you are pip'ed?

Microsoft edsnow Oct 22, 2016

64 at MS make that, on average all in. Looks right to me.

Then you're underpaid. Ask your HR rep for your comparative ratio. Guarantee you're below 1.0.

Microsoft Poopy Oct 22, 2016

I don't understand, G pays the same for l3 and l4? Doesn't make sense.

Amazon schmoop Oct 22, 2016

My thought exactly

What is the difference between E5 a d T5 at Google?

Microsoft undefined Oct 23, 2016

It is extremely wrong for Principal MS. They have one data point in the XLS for that band and it's someone at the low end of L65, yet it's labeled as 65-67 (which overall is much closer to the others there).

Salesforce yfLk52 Oct 23, 2016

65 at MS is like 250k overall comp, 66 would be like 325-375k

Microsoft NeedNewJob Oct 23, 2016

325-430K -- range allows u to go till that

Microsoft selfieStic Oct 23, 2016

We like to work at MICROSOFT not because of the pay, but because of the raise we get when we leave.

Microsoft NeedNewJob Oct 23, 2016

This is wrong for MSFT principal because it straddles folks who get 75K stock(L65) , 145K(L66) and 300K stock(L67). Bonus also varies significantly.

Google Oatd78 Oct 24, 2016

I think 75k is top for L65, right? The target is 37k.

Microsoft undefined Oct 24, 2016

Correct, but the point holds. Also L67 bonus range goes up to 60% (30% target).
