##consulting #consulting Hi All -I was confirmed by the McK recruiter that they are ready to give me an offer for a Staff Engineer role (internal and not client facing) . I have few questions and would appreciate if you guys can help me get answers for them? My YOE - 16 years, Current CTC- 160K+10% bonus 1. Can someone confirm the level of a Staff Engineer in Mck T&D? The recruiter hinted its at level 4. Is that correct? If yes then is that good considering my total exp? 2. Do they offer joining bonus and performance bonus? If yes what is the approx. range? 3. They are offering around 190K. Do you feel they are lowballing me? Please suggest? 4. How is growth in McK T&D? Thanks
Thanks for the responses. Can someone comment on the offer please? Whether it's good or bad?
Staff should be around 500k
Thanks but I guess a staff at Mckinsey does not get that huge pay. It is true for product companies and FAANG. Hence I was checking if anyone from MCK can help me with this
Any idea from any existing or ex @McKinsey employees please ??
@ mention McKinsey in your post by editing. This helped me get answers from those employees
Need to tap on @ and add McKinsey in the edit mode
Thanks much.
Can someone from McKinsey help me evaluate the offer?
I'm not an engineer atm but that feels really low..they should pay more (at least in US)
Thanks for the response. Any ranges that you feel is good?
Couldn't say personally as I'm not really aware how Devs are paid at Mck. But it just feels very low - they should be paying higher, especially if you might need to work longer hours.
McKinsey does not negotiate salaries as far as I know. Haven’t seen any successful attempts. You can try to negotiate position sometimes through.
I think this is only for BA/Associate level consultants. I think those outside of this can negotiate since things are not standardised as much
I'm at McK. Anyone outside the integrative track here which is basically generalist consultants is a second class citizen, even if they're in client facing roles. It would be worth it for someone of a non-engineering background to gain the relevant experience but absolutely not for you. Don't take it, seriously. It's not even a big jump in comp
T&D is a good group. The title structure is pretty flat, so you're getting in at a good level. There are no performance bonuses and salaries are not really negotiable. You might negotiate a signing bonus, but it won't be huge. As for the second class comments, the internal work is different. It's a better wlb, so comp might be lower, but so is the stress that comes with the job.
I feel like anything internal and not client facing for a consulting company is considered second class citizen
No shit
