Amazon (aws ec2) L6 tc : 580 YOE : 20 Getting a google L5 offer ( embedded software engineer ) . Don’t know the numbers yet . If Google offers anything close , I want to leave because aws looks like a hellhole . Levels.fyi show low salaries for L5 compared to aws L6. Found a professional salary negotiator . Are these useful ? They take 7 percent of the bump you got from the first offer to the final offer for the first year. Also are Google offers postponable/valid for a year ? Thanks ! Appreciate the help in advance .

Sounds like a massive waste of money to have a salary negotiator, at least at that rate. It is all upside for them, even if they take first offer.
Oops. I fixed my post It’s 7 percent of the bump you got from the first to the final .
isnt l5 downlevel with that much experience?
Don't do it, unless you don’t mind the reduced the scope. Otherwise you’ll regret it. I regret it. I am looking to leave, but can’t easily find high paying staff+ role in this environment.
I will most likely be pipped next year at aws . The signs are there clearly . So this is comforting and I will have a job I don’t know care about the scope but yeah I care about the money . Also Amazon never gave me anything big or interesting to work on . If I don’t accept L5 , Google will just cancel the offer right ? Don’t think Google is point hiring for a role that they would do anything to get me . The only hope is their offer will match my numbers .
My recent learning is Google is now giving max out offers and don't negotiate. I was on border of L4/L5 and recruiter mentioned L4 with max number and I had to walk away as it's less then what I make now. L5 should be 400-450 max. I am in Embedded too, if it matters and 12 YOE.
What did they give you as max number for L4?
around 320k with front loaded RSU
Sounds like you are already a professional salary negotiator. 580? Jesus. Are you SecEng?
