On the layoff’s a SVP said, I have been laid off before and this is the best severance package that he has seen. Is that how senior management handles stuff like this? I know you can’t make everyone happy and layoffs are inevitable but saying that he has been laid off before is the stupidest shit anyone can say. What does the Blind community think about it?
SVP and VP get great packages. Not everyone
Maybe tell us the package so we can be the judge?
60 days to look for another job, plus i’ve heard between 18-24 weeks severance based on tenure, I don’t think the formula has been released
That actually does look pretty good. You are looking at around 6-8months paid leave and maybe + remaining vacation balance? If you get a new job within 60 days. You are looking at double pay for awhile. I mean still sux that people need to find job at current environment, but I’d imagine most Salesforce people wouldn’t have very difficult time
You need to read the second part of my post. I am not being emotional about the layoffs. If I were in their shoes, I would do it in a hearbeat, the difference is I won’t be a dick about it.
Don’t think if you are employed again in 60 days you will still get the severance package
Correct, so a person in that position should either A) request a start date beyond the 60 day period or, if the hiring company would like that they start prior to then, B) negotiate a signing bonus that makes up for the loss.
Exactly
It’s because they really want to keep employees quite and not complain about the layoffs . Salesforce as a product depends a lot on its public perception
60 days + 4-14months, not weeks. That’s pretty generous strictly talking about severance pay
Dude! That’s crazy good! Lay me off too please!
Wish I could volunteer for this
Hate the attitude of that svp.
Your sentence is a little confusing “On the layoff’s a SVP said, I have been laid off before and this is the best severance package that he has seen.”
How many weeks of severance for a person joined within a year? What about if he is on H1B? Can an architect or similar level person find a job within 2 months with same or more packages?
Bad optics by SVP but generally the attitude that SV has.. humans and emotions are not part of the equation
Why is saying "I've been laid off once before" a poor choice? If I am on the receiving end of it I don't think I'd be upset by the comment.
