Hello Blinders, I have an upcoming virtual onsite interview with Slack for a Software Engineer position. The format is a little different from what I have experienced in the past. There are two technical rounds - one system design and one coding round where I have to work on a random project/repo with some documentation that will be provided at that time. I have to share my screen/IDE and work with the interviewer. Anyone who has gone through this process, can you please share some insights and preparation tips? Thanks in advance! TC: 120K #softwareengineer
Interviewed and now working at slack. I’d prepare by doing a mock system design of slack itself. For the behavior side, be sure to ask good questions that aren’t generic.
How about coding?
This might be different depending on your level, but you should be able to hop into a new code base and modify existing code to add some feature. They’ll watch you do it and see how you go about exploring the code and making time decisions. I’d treat it like a pair programming session with your tech lead.
Can you share your experience? How was systen design and coding?
Probably better to just DM the person directly. But please share it to us if you got any replies 🙇♂️
If you don’t mind, can you please share your experience after the interview? Blind needs more people to give before it can become a place where people can ask for information. If everyone is only asking but not giving, then posts like these will keep popping out without any resolution
Sure mate! I will share my experience.
I’m interested as well!
