Has anyone on here ever been acquired by Salesforce? Wondering what the process typically looks like regarding the timing of new offer letters and whether they adjust your compensation at all.
It’s not a good time, let me tell you. I will say Slack is likely to have a better time of it than Tableau has. It’s been pretty clear the exec leadership of SF doesn’t really understand our product or value prop very well. I think they will have a better grasp of slack. But, prepare for a big increase in bureaucracy and process.
But what about the timing of the new offers? How long did that take Salesforce with Tableau?
I think it took us about 6 ish months after the official acquisition to getting the new offer letters? Seems like a while ago now haha, they also did role level mapping to sfdc so that took some time
We got mapped to new levels at Salesforce around 1 year after the acquisition.
Thank you — would you say they tried to keep comp consistent or did you hear of any downleveling?
They won't reduce your base salary for sure. I am not sure what you mean by downleveling. There will be some mapping between slack levels and sf levels.
I also heard that Salesforce doesn’t offer refreshers while Tableau used to, big turn off!
🤷♂️
Some variation in this across groups and roles, but largely true on the lack of refreshers. If you have a very senior role or are a high performer you can still get them, but they are less than before. If you are performing or slightly above and not a lead/principal or above, then nothing for you. Non technical roles also used to get RSU refreshers and that is largely no longer true unless you are management.

Hello 👋
Well the process was smooth for us, 4 - 5 months for the offer letters and the integration time, lots of processes as expected and trails to complete. Slack is different acquisition in comparison to Vlocity so would not compare them. Business wise SF already has 3-4 products doing similar things for different customers B2B B2C. One thing you would realise the bureaucracy, multiple experiments going on in parallel with no end in sight. There is a vision behind acquisitions but felt like the middle management makes it difficult to execute, don't know if customers are exposed to it or not. Culture all good, very social, good people.
Thanks for your response — did they change compensation at all for the offer letters?
Unsure, some of them got some did not, I think depends on if there is a difference in the compensation package for the same level.
When you get acquired by Salesforce, how do they handle pto from the old company? I have a lot of time accrued and would rather get paid out for it instead of taking a massive amount of time off. TIA
They buy it out, so you are in luck!

Modi is the worst dictator!
Look at reviews from Tableau. Get Ready for half of SF trying to OOM to you guys (set the eng bar high and you won’t have an issue)
OOM?
Oom= switch team. If someone oom from Salesforce to slack will it get higher comp like new teammates? Asking for a friend.
