It’s almost like there was never an actual recession, but rather companies were looking for excuses to lower salaries and take back power from employees so they could end remote work.

Exactly. It’s shady and underhanded, but it’s done a great job of helping to determine which tech companies to avoid. Amazon, Meta, Google and Salesforce are only a few of the companies to never work for, and I hope more tech workers boycott these companies.
No surprise at all, lower base and equity.
So turn them down if it’s not competitive.
