Hi, So my wife comes from a social work background but has lately gotten disillusioned by the low pay and the high effort combined with the mental toll. Sheโs been asking me about a job in tech, but something with a gentle learning curve suitable for non-tech folks. My suggestion was to get certified in Salesforce as an admin as the coursework is easy accessible, well laid out and simple to grasp. How easy would be for her to find an opportunity in an ideal market (ignore the upcoming probable tough times) with no previous background? Also, should she apply for positions directly or a consulting firm would be better? Thanks! TC: 180k

Not related to sales force - this is for SDE, but I thought I would add in case folks are interested. https://adadevelopersacademy.org/ I did this tuition free non profit software dev program a few yrs ago. Iโve been employed since internship (part of the program) & I was promoted to SDE2 last year. However this is not a slow step in to tech; itโs a jump into the deep end. Financially - itโs been a huge payoff & much better benefits then my previous career, but itโs been a mentally & emotionally challenging process to get here.
Thanks for this! This is something she might wanna look into. How was the job search process once you finished the course?
I took an offer from my internship company (Amazon), but I also interviewed at a smaller company and also got an offer. Ada also hosts some hiring loops with partner companies. Most folks had a job offer prior to graduation.
