Please help me choose between Salesforce Team - data cloud LMTS Vs Walmart Team - Ad tech Staff engg. Yoe- 11 yrs Both offering same TC. Looking for some insights from wlb, culture point of view. Thanks
What's the TC both are offering ?
Wm- 90L , sf- 95L
Adtech has a lot of politics and lot of staffs who only keep bootlicking their managers and are at the level of juniors in terms of technicality. So you have to really compete against them not technically but in the way you handle politics. Depending on which team in adtech, it could be a hit or a miss. Which team is this for?
Tc please
Since you are already experienced in e-commerce choose Walmart that way you can build a stronger profile for yourself will help in long run. Walmart India you have lot of benefits starting from unlimited free food, free cabs etc. (I was able to crack retail / Ecom roles easily due to my previous Ecom exp. Now a Staff)
Hey op congratulations for both the offers. My interview is scheduled with data cloud team. I have couple of queries, can I DM you?

Asians - what are your thoughts on asian female white male ?
I don't know either of the two teams you mentioned. But, if I have to generalise the tech at Walmart is better than Salesforce. Salesforce platform also called core, is outdated, crude and closed. Building on it is slow and frustrating. Mastering it will add no or little value in the job market.
Thanks for replying. I am thinking same way, many people say join Salesforce at first place so that confused me. Don't know much details but what I found out- Walmart ad tech is their advertisement platform for sellers which personalize the user experience based on view etc. Salesforce data cloud they are building some data platform capturing all sources with different connector and serve these data to other cloud in CRM.
Maturity is when you realize tech keeps changing, the design problem you get to solve, the way you solve it under your system constraints is what makes your career grow. BTW I agree that working on core is painful at times. But using this as a reason for little job market value is hard to digest. At Google, I worked using top-notch Google's propreitery tech to build a simple thing didn't give me any confidence, but while working in Salesforce working on a totally new product while analyzing Cost-to-serve and many other stuff in initial design phase gave me confidence. Choose problem over tech.
