Samsung Austin - Equipment Engineer

Hey folks, I am wondering if anyone can let me know what would be a fair point to negotiate for SAS with my experience? I am currently waiting on a verbal offer from HR. TC currently 100k base as senior engineer 9YOE

You should see somewhere 140 to 150base, relo + 20k sign on. If you have another offer from another company, take that one. Avoid unless you have no other offer

Thank you for the insight, is it that bad of a company to work? do you mind to elaborate more?

Yes, it's a Korean management and has its own plus and minus. But if you have no other offer. Take it. But if you are in a good company, don't fall in trap.

He is a senior engineer anyways none of this decision will be impacted by Korean management. If you hate it so much why still stick around !!

Lol. Left 2 weeks ago. Trying to tell him the right picture. He asked for advise, he got it. Rest is his decision

Be prepared to do things "according to SOP" regardless of your experience or opinion. If you're lucky, you will be offered a principal engr level...otherwise, I expect you will be a sr engr. (Staff engr is above principal there iirc) TC and benefits are average. Hard to get fired since they're always short staffed (better ppl leave, worse ppl stick around and make your life hard). If you need job security more than top-level pay, then go for it. In Austin, your other major choice of employer would be NXP/Freescale's William Cannon fab. Otherwise, go see what Intel in Portland/Phoenix or TSMC Phoenix or GloFo NY have to offer.
