Got an offer from SAS which I didn't expect to look as such. Title: Process Integration Engi. (Engineer 1) Base-75k Bonus-12% (6% Qt. Champion Bns & 6% Indiv. Performance) TC @ full (obv. the bonus is performance-based) would be maxed 97.5k. A reasonable assumption of 4% rather than 6% would bring TC to 90k. Relocation-15k (2yr clawback) 401k - matching 4.5% (100% first 3 and 50% latter 3) also, what is this on-site cafe subsidy with 15% d.c. on food, $30/mo + match credit of $30/mo ?? they only give $30/mo to help cover food? other competition offered ~80k base with 10% annual bonus (30D PTO after 1 mo.) what do you all think? Edit: sorry, forgot to mention...Fresh grad. MS- Materials Sci.&Engi with near 3yrs of Quality exp. (but not in hardware). BS-Chemistry #samsung #samsungelectronics #samsunglife #SamsungAustinSemiconductor #SAS #hardware #semiconductor #interview
But you're already at Samsung? Also that offer is pretty bad
I did some digging online for more salary info and I have also come to the same conclusion.
interview at AMD!
Been stabbing at AMD but haven't heard back. Hence... yea...
Samsung is notorious for bad culture. Also 2 year claw back for sign bonus is a red flag. The smart people leave before 2 years. Also PIE is a meat grinder. High stress, high pressure, 2 AM phone calls about production problems. Experience you gain limits your ability to work outside of other fabs if you're there too long. On the upside they are going to open a new fab in Taylor in a few year, which means head count is going to double, giving current employees much upward mobility. According to the people at SAS I know they are desperate for people. With a masters and 3 years I would argue for E2.
They did readjust the basewith an added sign-on bonus. I appreciate your thought on what a fair title would be for me. Atm the manager seems to be locked into E1 title due to lack of going through the CORP program.
Eng 1 band goes to 85k. Try to get base up to that. Taylor site is a unique opportunity, but not worth the low start. Pay at SAS starts being competitive at senior level
Yea.. spoke to one of the people who work there, said the same thing. E2 is where it starts to get better it seems
Did you accept?
Engi.? You're just as bad as people who abbreviate it Engg. The offer is 💩 Interview with Intel you'll make more
