Got interview for system engineer at Samsung Austin Semiconductor. Any tips would be appreciated. 0 YoE
If for GPU, study some graphics. Pick some area you can learn about before the interview. No one expects an expert with 0 yoe, but effort and preparation is expected. If for system ip / fabric.... Same advice. Pick something to study and work that new knowledge into the conversation. Read up on Exynos. Have a question for each interviewer.
Thank you for the advice.
Please don’t join unless you’re desperate. They have a very Asian culture that involves getting monitored on the time you spent behind monitor and so on. They are not a software company. They don’t have wfh . You will never get to improve your skills
I think you mixed up SAS with something else then went full general Samsung view. SAS has WFH, just not everyday of the week. Monitored screen time? SAS does not have that. Maybe 10 security programs running in the background making things slow. But no one has told me how much screen time I had per day. It would be crazy small on weeks I am helping train others and teaching classes. Skills improvement is on you too. Do your job and expand into areas you can learn. Find a mentor that helps you. As I mentioned above, I spend a lot of time helping others learn. This is not some impossible or "never" level item.
I appreciate the responses. I hope it’ll be fine as the reply suggests, and I do know someone there so I’ll be sure to ask lots of questions.
1. Be Korean or White 2. If not, be ready to be treated as a third class citizen. 3. Unless 1, forget the growth or be on promo track.
I had a referral, took about a week
Know some systems basics for programming. LRU caches, synchronized circular queues, maybe bit manipulations. For general knowledge, it's hard to know without the posting, but if you have some understanding of the Linux kernel internals, that's a plus, but probably not required.
Thank you.
