Started trip at 5am with 100% charge. Got on plane, put in airplane mode. Get to destination 3 hours later and it's already 54%. Without any use on plane but fine. Arrive, check email, find Uber. Now 48%. Get into Uber, of course only iPhone cable. Plug into external battery but need to send emails on the way. Now 25%. It's 5 hours after I left the house. 10 minutes later it's at 13%. I use stationary bike at gym and it's 7%. At this point it loses 1% every 30 seconds because it's a leased phone from T-Mobile and probably has issues. There's no way I'll be able to charge it fully due to changing conference rooms all day, until I get to my hotel at 8, which means constant stress and poor performance, stuck at 5% battery. This thing is an absolute nightmare and causes so much stress, particularly when traveling because US airports haven't yet realized the importance of charging stations but logistics are coordinated via phone. Anyone else have similar issues?
Seems battery is imploding instead of exploding these days - feature, not a bug!
How much did it drop when you wrote this
This just means you have a rogue app that is eating up battery. I have an S8 and it lasts me full day. Try checking the battery usage to find which app is eating up the battery. Also put almost all the apps on auto sleep mode, except communication apps like Gmail, Whatsapp, etc.
Oh, the irony.
Well that’s likely your problem.
I have an S9 too and the battery sucks. Not as bad as yours but the screen on time is only about 3-4 hours. Have had it die on me while travelling in a foreign city. What a nightmare, had to ask people on the street for directions back home, the 90s way.
An excellent camera but can't really use it while traveling if you want to grab an Uber back home.
Why the actual fuck are you leasing a phone? Don’t answer that..... leasing is dumb
Lets me upgrade annually, but now I'm paying the price
Dude are you serious? Just go buy the new one. They are taking out their big dong and shoving it deep deep up in side your butttt via a phone lease. Don’t do that. It’s not good.
iPhone X goes 1.5 day
My s9 works fine. I have gone on airplane mode for 3 days without charging while camping. Check what's killing your battery. There are some diagnostic tools available. Might a specific app.
My S9 lasts 2 days of light use
I bet you didn't put you phone in airplane mode on the plane like you are supposed to. What happens is it goes into a high power mode searching for and trying to connect to the towers you are flying over. Sounds like on top of that you have a crappy battery that is near the end of its life and not holding a charge.
The phone has only existed since March. I'd hope you're not EoL on a <7mo battery unless you've been intentionally doing discharge cycles for some reason. Very true and very likely on the tower search though. I've seen that churn through 20% in an hour. The screens are also pretty power hungry and turning the brightness down can help a bit.

My Galaxy S7 was like this. Jumped to iPhone and haven’t looked back. Even at 85% battery capacity my 7 Plus was still doing better than my S7 did new.
