I received an offer from Samsung Semiconductor in Austin for a Fab Process Engineer position. Base: 100k Sign on bonus: $15k Bonus: 12% + additional bonus based on performance. What do you think about the offer? Should I push for more? TIA. TC: 90k Location: Austin YOE: 1.5 years #semiconductor
Do you bring relevant education or experience to the position? You have 1.5 YOE - was that in a similar role? It's not a ton of experience for a promotion to a senior process development role and they are likely putting you in the new college grad bucket.
Yes I do. I have 1.5 YOE for other semiconductor company. I want to push for more. It is not worth to move with only 10% difference. Do you have any suggestions?
Samsung is known for lowballing, I would state what your needs are, reiterate the relevant experience you bring to the table and make them a counter offer if you really want the job. I haven't heard good things about the work culture so to me it's not worth it.
They're pretty desperate right now. I think you could do it
Thank you. What should I counter? $110 for base is reasonable?
110K is pushing it a little because that's like Engineer II I knew a couple engineers who managed to get promoted to that salary with only 1.5 years at SAS but it was rare. I'd would say 110K if you made meaningful changes at your last job. Otherwise, I would say 105 or 107k and you'll just be on the high end of an engineer I salary. I myself was making 103K base after 2 years there before I left
I am an E2 with 5 years process experience and 3 years in a support department. I make 107k base so if you do get more right off the bat I would be very interested in knowing
Thank you. Looks like they give me a reasonable base salary. Do you mind to share with me your bonus and other benefits?
@Salvana - 5 years experience with Samsung only? What is the pay band for E2?
@OP what was your offer?
sorry for diverging .....can any one help me get referral for Samsung austin semiconductor, have Phd in mechanical and manufacturing engineering with clean room experience , have research experience in dry etch and CVD processes, also proficient in metal 3D printing and mechanical cad desing
Yes that’s like 10% increase in the base. Try to get another offer and use it as leverage.
Unfortunately, this is the only one I have.
I think you should ask for more. Nothing to lose. Push little bit higher.
