I have a technical engineering interview with samsung research coming up but was wondering if anyone has any insights on what Samsung interviews are like? Also how is the work culture at Samsung research?
My wife works at Samsung, work is Gud . But bad pay
Sweatshop.
Work culture is usually pretty shit. All decisions are made by Korea. You’re just drones who follow orders. If the order is jump off the cliff, by gosh, you’ll need to jump off the cliff. No flexibility. Idiot management from Korea. Obviously, it depends on your team. If you’re white, you might be ok. If you’re Korean American. Lord have mercy on your soul. BTW, SRA is usually considered one of the best Samsung subsidiaries.
Thanks for the reply, this is conflicting news for sure. I'm going for a security engineering role so hopefully I will feel less like a drone but won't expect much. Interesting that SRA is considered the best, is this comment about SRA or just all of Samsung?
Are you saying Korean treated worse than others in Samsung ?! I think it’s the opposite
It is shit inside. Korean owners who control your life and toxic, political managers who make your life hell. Please don't join
Worst culture 0 career growth ... stay away
I work at Samsung in America. I don't see the problems other people have. Good WLB and the pay is pretty decent. I make $345k/yr with PhD and 6yoe (live in Austin)
Are you in ML? I get 220K with 4YoE. I have PhD and live in the Bay Area
Yeah, in SAIT. I primarily work with the Montreal team.

I've only experienced it from on outside perspective (as a research vendor), but from what I've seen it's pretty high pressure, fairly political, and people didn't seem too happy to be there. However, take this with a grain of salt, cause this was 5ish years ago, so things may be very different now
