I’m a new grad starting soon in the San Francisco office at Adobe. I believe the office is in Mission Bay area; what are some recommendations for areas to rent an apartment that would be walkable/bikeable to the office but also great for young adults and professionals? Safety and great food/bars in the area would be a bonus. Thanks! #newgrad #sf #sanfrancisco #adobe
Mission bay/ South Beach isn’t bad at all, but if you’re looking for night life, go to Russian Hill/ North Beach/ Marina
Fair enough! Is Russian hill/marina walkable or bikeable to mission bay for work?
Check a map to be sure you’d be up to it, but in my opinion it’s definitely bikeable. It’d probably be a 2-3 mile trip one way. You could also look in Nob hill which splits it in half. Hard to go wrong as long as you stay far away from Civic and Tenderloin. DO NOT consider living in those areas; you’ll be tempted by the price of apartments there but trust me, it’s not worth it.
San Fran is a dump
The fact that you called sf “San Fran” means you never truly lived in sf.
“Safety” lol
Get an ebike and live somewhere central like Duboce Triangle or Lower Height. Lots going on and you can bike to anywhere in the city in 20 minutes
Sweet! Would it be fine if I take an electric bike anywhere in the city or would it get stolen like how cars always get broken into?
That neighborhood is great. You can also just rent the Lyft e-bikes from the many stations in the area before committing to buying one. Duboce/Lower Haight is one of the few flat areas of the city - there are no hills on the way to the financial district up Market St., so I'd consider whether you even need an e-bike, or whether a normal bike would be fine. To your question OP, yes there are car break-ins in most parts of the city. Leave your car spotless with absolutely nothing showing and you should be (probably) break-in-free for a few years. I wouldn't leave anything valuable, including your e-bike, overnight in most SF neighborhoods, but you should be fine to lock it up while you're at a coffee shop or something.
The "city" part of SF is literally so small you can live anywhere tbh I live in Mission Bay for convenient commute to work and going out is really easy. 10-20 minute uber to 99% of places worth going to
Tenderloin by far - the most exciting neighborhood and no lack of entertainment options at night. You’ll have fun!

Does Mission Bay have a good young adult crowd and night life? I’ve heard that since it’s primarily a commercial area more so than residential, it’s kinda dead after work hours?
Thanks for the recs! Yeah I’m not expecting any NYC level nightlife haha but I would like to be able to hit up bars/restaurants late and see like aged people. Sucks that everything closes by 10 tho
