Is it okay to pass sarcastic comment in slack channel, code review or design discussions? Did you find people open enough to understand the concept of sarcasm or they get offended by it? Edit : not sure how to add GenX
Context matters. Are you trying to tell someone they are doing great when they aren’t? Or are you just talking about some generic thing that nobody cares about (e.g. our integration tests have been great)
Something like instead of saying " Our X systems are shit " "Our X systems are great!..."( Diff tone )
With this level of sarcasm you can easily beat Chandler
Highly context dependent especially based on how well you know the person. I would generally keep it out of code reviews though in any case
I wouldnt risk it OP. Being sarcastic at work can only harm you.
It’s work. Give it to them straight.
Sarcasm at work = No no
It's better to be explicit in your communication in a grey zone. Implicit communication can create distrust if you're in a situation where you're absolutely not sure in which ways you should be communicating.
Generally not adviced to do this. Be especially mindful of women colleagues who on drop of a hat can play fake victim card.
Depends on you and your ability to the read the room. But since you asked I’ll suggest don’t be sarcastic
Ya but only if you're American
Depends on who you’re using it with
