I've always felt like why is there such disparity today in the job, in the labor market between let's say some care worker and let's call it sort of a software developer. And it's because we think of, we as a society have decided to give it different, I'd say premium. Those premiums will adjust as some of these technologies really truly get diffused. " I was always wondering why satyas MSFT was pushing WFH, hybrid, remote so much but it makes sense now. #layoff #rif
Wow I’m not joining decided
It is infinitely more preferable to work as a software developer than a bloody care worker; one of these careers has higher potential for TC and the others don’t. That goes for non-tech positions and low-level grunt jobs that pay peanut shells. WFH has absolutely nothing to do with this. TC: $44/hr
Guy making $100m telling me I'm making too much money
Yeah what about the execs? Bet you don’t think we as a society have decided to give them a hefty premium
Interviewer should ask Satya - “When will his compensation be adjusted?”
Yeap! How about the CEO comp?
He is saying the reality. The future is continued squeezing of the so called middle class, with fewer people left in the middle
CEO making millions thinks software engineers get paid more than they should. The irony
He’s just saying the quiet part out loud. There’s a reason why all these mega tech companies are throwing massive anounts of money at all these programs to encourage and train people (especially students) to be in tech. It’s not because they’re so kind and benevolent. They wanna drive wages down by increasing supply for talent. All the tech TikTokers who post stupid videos about yoga, wine on tap, free food, laundry services, etc while at work are doing free advertisements for them. And it’s false advertisement btw because the benefits are getting cut year after year. These companies know what they’re doing.
It's time that people in tech realize that we are just workers like any other. We have a temporary advantage with higher pays, but it's not going to last. And before it's too late, before our wages start dropping, while we have the extra money to be able to afford certain luxuries, we need to come together as the working class and fight the capitalists at the top of the power structure. All of us in the tech industry need to start forming and joining unions to leverage our collective power! Or watch as our wages drop and executives like Satya Nadella or Sundar Pichai take our shares for themselves.
