Every one is wrong. What Satya did was, made sure Sam doesn’t compete with OpenAI with his own venture and take all the staff. That’s bigger threat to his 13 billion. He basically put him on the bench for now. 🔥🔥🔥 Quite brilliant #openai #Microsoft #samaltman [UPDATE] Sam is back at OpenAI. Literally Satya wins again, his $13b are safe again.
Just saying, he can probably quit anytime…
His reputation would be in shambles by then.
🍿
1. What.
Hm, Compete with OpenAI? “OpenAI is nothing without its people”, there will be no OpenAI, what are you talking about? However, Satya will have different problem to worry about, now he is liable for anything Sam and his gang will do, the risk of AI is real. Just imagine AI is involved in financial market.
Oh market fluctuations right now are nothing, watch what happens next 5 years. With this combined with cultural collapse going on couple of stupid fronts of society, there is going to be internal war on the grounds in 10 years. Specially if trans movement is pushed more to down through policy and bs, pushing it beyond its natural rhythm and space. When you mess with kids, it’s war time.
Sam would just leave MSFT if this were true and have VCs showering him with money. He is not handcuffed to MSFT.
He probably will, that’s the point. Somehow Satya tricked him
I find it hard to believe someone such as Sam Altman, who has seen thousands of contracts in his lifetime leading various organizations, could be tricked that easily. Especially considering he is already worth $100M+ and could hire the best lawyers to read every inch of every document a 100 times over. He’s not an idiot.
sam is not the tech guy. He has more value in startups because he can bring in money. In a big company, money is already there. What's needed is the tech
Yep, exactly he is benched, just not letting him do what he does best, build companies (though, not making money lol)
Sam isn't going to sit on the bench, he can walk and have a 1B startup funded in a weekend. I don't think he stays at MS for long and will likely still end up back at OpenAI (the MS deal just gives him and the other employees total leverage).
That’s like saying when Disney fired James Gunn that WB gave him a multi-billion dollar program to keep him from competing. MSFT got the goose and the golden egg for the price of a song!
Nah, OAI is still operating as a non-profit for the most part and nobody would have gotten rich if things stayed that way. This was probably how Microsoft ensures that everyone can get rich. Sam started a for-profit arm but couldn’t break free from the non-profit. Microsoft is one of the largest monopolistic tech companies. This was probably a planned coup
How is it the bench if its in your own company...
If you don’t think he’s going to use Sam to lead his internal groups and instead will just have him do nothing you’re crazy
Running around wild Sam is more dangerous than benched Sam.
Ok that’s not what Meta said though, he said that Sam will actually be put to work to lead the internal group. He’s not on the bench if anything he’ll probably be doing more work under Microsoft now since after this whole fiasco msft probably doesn’t want to put all their eggs into a company that is lead by clowns on the board.
