Oops. Indian H1B workers are not allowed to bring a working spouse. Not allowed a GC. Must slave away for their whole life. And next thing they will be sent back to where they came from.
US wants your labor but refuses to give you liberty.
After all those still there are/will be millions of Indians willing to come to US.
Before the hate begins.. here is some background: you only get H4 EAD if you ha e a valid I-140. So, people who have H4 EAD, are eligible for green card. It’s not true that people come here and immediately start working on H4. H1 is a dual intent visa, so people with valid I-149 have indicated their will to migrate to US. Eventually, these people will get a green card and it’s wise to have the willing people working. This was the original intent by the Obama administration.
Yeah bullshit. All those consultancy bodyshop folks also get their I140 approved and then their spouses steal American jobs.
So stop them.. blanket rules are just lazy. It’s the same as saying we don’t want to fix the root cause of the drug problem, we will build a wall!! Also, if someone who can come and just steal your jobs, says a lot about your skills.
H4 EAD is the right of H1B holders with GC in progress. Accepting GC application and not permitting their spouse to work is a slavery.
Accepting a h1 application doesn't mean approval. Don't have ur GC? Don't assume anything
It's not slavery. There's a reason for the wait after 140 approval. Bypassing that wait is bypassing the queue which is WRONG. Wait for the GC, then apply for work.
I empathize the folks who have a degree and have to stay waiting bajillion years for green card. But I do agree that maybe H4 EAD must have a min salary for jobs. I agree that H4 EAD folks are eating into low paying jobs like school, library, grocery stores, bank, etc US citizen but I am very pro immigration.
The non PC prescription for Indians here is: don't marry mail order brides that need to be shipped in to the US on a visa. Marry someone local who has a legal status - if you live here shouldn't that be the norm anyway - it's easier to meet and date where you live and work?
The was meant to be a demonstrated labor need for the H1b - the issue with the H4 is that there is no demonstrated labor need.
Curious, do you think anyone cares about such petitions? Who is your target audience for the petition ? This petition is written by itpro alliance, seems like some bunch of consulting companies. If you really care about this going away and want to help cause, join advocacy. This petition writing is worth the same as my toilet paper. Note that there current administration cares 0 about these petitions. They are the deciding authority on whether h4 EAD stays or goes. All of us have limited time. Don't waste your valuable time in a petition just to take off your guilt that you did something even though you know this doesn't help anything.

Reading all the comments here, Uber hasn't really learnt any lesson after all that happened to them. I see strong ignorance, racism and sexism in their comments.
Probably they test that for overall culture fit . So glad I don’t use Uber.
Let's add it to the bill which is removing country cap for GC. US needs 95% Indians for H1, H4, GC.
Why would you need h4 EAD if country caps bill pass?
