Hey guys, I am thinking of declining the job offer from Amazon for Vancouver location. My Visa is under processing. Can someone tell me what will be the implications? Will I have to pay all the expanses occured in processing of visa back to Amazon? Has someone gone through the same situation before? I am currently situated in India. Amazon offered TC: 200k CAD.
Person said reneging. You might be burning bridges here though.
I am okay to burn Bridges. Not planning to go back to Amazon again in future.
Why would you in your right mind not take up the offer? 200 seems pretty good
It's not about money.
What's the reason then.. just curious so asking
Had you already signed any contracts?
I just accepted the offer on mail. I have not signed it officially.
You are good. The lawyers are way too slow to start processing. You get mails from lawyers once they start processing anything. If not , just tell the recruiter whatever
You won't regret saying no. Check out Andrew Goldis' post on medium
You would have had to have signed the Acknowledgment of Relocation benefits in order for the Visa processing to commence right? If you did, then even if you don't accept the offer you are liable to pay for the costs incurred by Amazon. If you didn't sign that and they did initiate the process I doubt Amazon would have any legal recourse.
You reneging an offer, right? Check your employment contract if there is a condition for that
I am not renegotiating, I am just going to decline. I checked the offer letter, they have not mentioned anything there. Just wanted to check if someone has done this and faced some issue.
Lol, reneging mean you accepted the offer and then declined.
