Car accident at my fault, how to avoid paying the damages?
company is Instinet ( Nomura ). they said they haven't set a budget for laptop and in the HR's own words "we're not ready for remote working" so I'll have to get my own laptop. same for other wfh stuff like furniture or headphones etc etc. one clarity : they are giving me a secureid device for logging in to their networks from personal laptop. I have worked in this mode in fintech firms before but it is not an optimal and productive way as compared to having a laptop myself. also I'm a fullstack developer working on Java, and distributed frameworks. My laptop of 4 gb ram and 2 CPUs won't just work. Is this a red flag ?
them asking you to buy your own headphones and furniture is standard. But a laptop?! They should want to provide you with a laptop so they can make sure youre using proper security protocols. Ive never heard of this in my life. Are you sure you are understanding correctly?
yeah. I updated the description for more clarity.
still terrible. cheapest shit ive ever heard. run
Huge red flag...
Run.
Not sure about red flag but banks are cheap...
not in the job description at least. but I'm a developer and work on Java, distributed frameworks so do need a good laptop with decent memory and cpus. my current laptop of 4 gb ram won't just work.
Lol...you wanna sue someone over a laptop? Good luck. Americans are insane.
That’s not a big deal ( everyone has a personal laptop) but yes it is a red goad and a Wtf ... I’ve worked for Nomura for a good 6+ years. They were unprepared for Sandy but so was everyone else. But this is nuts how can they not have budget for laptops for a pandemic situation going on for a good +6 months now ... clearly says they aren’t doing well and you may see many rounds of layoffs just to cut cost.
