I've been getting a lot of requests lately for Scala roles. I thought Java 8+ was supposed to kill Scala. Why is it still gaining traction on its own? Is it worth it to invest more in Scala?
Maybe spark projects? Spark is still good, and there's a pretty big overhead for using python for certain operations.
There are so many projects that were created in Scala. Its difficult to find people with Scala skills to maintain them and add features. New projects are not in Scala though.
What are new projects in?
node, python, go, Java..
Scala is the weapon of choice for spark jobs - what else would you use!
Scala is so extra. You use it only for Spark or any large data processing framework since functional programming is neat
Some companies are a few years behind. Quite a few years... behind
Gaining like from 0.01% to 0.011% ? Could be. Becoming mainstream language - no way
I like Scala.

Seriously? Apple is DYING...These possible IPad updates are so boring *Yawn*
Scala is a dead tech
That's what I thought but why are so many companies hiring for it
Legacy projects, out of touch tech leads? Who knows... I’d avoid those companies
